Avery Dennison, Chosen Partner in a New Project Involving RFID Tags for a Well-Known German Car Manufacturer

Joysonquin Automotive Systems Romania will switch to RFID labels for its components used in a well-known German car maker. The labels are created in Romania by AB Systems, in partnership with RFID solutions supplier, Avery Dennison.

Cluj-Napoca, February 20, 2024 - AB Systems, a Romanian manufacturer of durable labels, extends its partnership with Joysonquin Automotive Systems Romania and supplies RFID smart labels for the decorative elements inside the new model of a well-known German car manufacturer.

"Our biggest challenge was to fit a high-powered RFID antenna, which is usually substantial in size, into the confined space provided by the interior of the decorative elements. Our characteristic innovation and efficient approach resulted in yet another successful customization in the automotive segment. This was made possible with the help of our partner, Avery Dennison, our RFID inlay supplier. Starting now, another globally iconic car model incorporates our solutions," says Daniel Andraș, CEO of AB Systems.

From March 2024, the majority of cars rolling out of the German plant will be equipped with RFID tags in the interior trim. Both these decorative elements and the related RFID tags are produced in Romania.

"AB Systems has a long tradition of successfully delivering complex projects. In this case, we are talking about a development that also required the software part - collecting data from internal systems, encoding and decoding them according to the car manufacturer’s standards - as well as a hardware system composed of RFID readers and printers. The resulting solution will be integrated into our ERP platform," adds Ovidiu Adam, Managing Director of Joysonquin Automotive Systems Romania.

With this project, Joysonquin Automotive Systems Romania continues its five-year partnership with AB Systems in the smart label segment. The new car model project is already their fifth joint project in the automotive segment.

In the first year alone, AB Systems will supply Joysonquin Automotive Systems Romania with more than 2,500,000 RFID labels, used for correctly marking and identifying items throughout the production chain.
